Great! Now you can start the practical planning of your projects!

Activity

Think about at least three activities needed for each of your goals to be reached. If you are unsure which activities are necessary or relevant, it might be a good idea to consider creating a logic model (see next slide).

A logic model illustrates how resources and activities lead to certain outputs and then outcomes and finally the desired goal. It may be an advantage to start at the end, with the desired goal, and go backwards through the process to find out what your company needs to do to achieve this goal.

Ok, then you can start to consider which activities to do when and how they relate to each other. You can start by making an action plan. The action plan should also include what resources are needed for implementing the activity.

Afterwards it might be a good idea to illustrate the timeline of the activities by making a Gantt chart.

What if my project is more complex? Maybe it will last for several months and include development of new products.

Then you might a need a more advanced chart showing the milestones of the project and if some activities are dependant upon completion of other activities. You can also highlight when you have to make important decisions. Examples of milestones are:

Start and end dates for project phases
Key deliveries and deadlines
Stakeholder approvals
Important meetings and presentations
Key events that may impact your timeline
