Value-added tax VAT (Moms)
Utgående moms - As an entrepreneur you have to charge VAT (utgående moms) to your customers. Always when you do a revenue VAT has to be paid: this means by selling goods or services.
You have to state the VAT explicitly on all invoices you sent to your customers. Please take in to consideration the requirements made by law for invoices.
Ingående moms - As an entrepreneur you pay VAT (ingående moms) for (almost) all company-related purchases. Be careful and aware that on all bills you pay the VAT is clearly indicated. This ingående moms you can later deduct from the utgående moms that you have to pay to the tax office, momsdeklaration.
Income tax (Inkomstskatt)
Anyone who generates or receives an income must pay income tax. This is important for sole traders and trading partnerships because they do not pay the corporation tax.
The tax rate you have to pay depends on your personal profit minus your expenses. The tax office will check your income and if it is higher or lower than initially expected, you will have to pay tax debt or get money back the following year.
Different categories of products and services have different VAT, from 0%, 6%, 12% or 25%.
